My photo taken for Week 6 of shutterboos weekly photo challenge, Repetition.
I settled on this image from a few taken from on a walk into town from work, the building itself is a 4 story, modern building for City College in Coventry. The building is quite striking anyway but I quite like this close crop showing the precise cladding and windows with the reflected light highlighting imperfections.
Initially I thought that an arhitecture inspired image was a little too obvious, and wanted to try something a little more suggestive of repetition than literal, however after taking a few images on my mobile and going back with the dslr I liked the final chosen photo and so there it is!
Originally I was quite interested in visiting an old workplace, a gym, and taking some shots of a runner on a treadmill and some weights, implying repetition in motion and the physical activity of pushing ‘reps’. Unfortunately I didn’t make it along to the gym to take any photos, I have been threatening to go back for years but never quite made it
.
The sewing machine image came about as my partner took delivery of a repaired machine and proceeded to test it out. She creates a lot of artwork with the machine and I tried to capture the repetitive motion, sound as well as the resulting pattern. Initially this was my first choice for the challenge but in the end I selected the cladding / windows image.
